We can also apply this to the seasons in our lives.
How often do we live like the real life is round the corner?
Life will start when....
I finish school…
when my children are grown….
when I change my job….
when I retire…….
rather than living.
Living in rest is about being satisfied in the present, while still holding our dreams for the future.
We are called to live from victory to victory, and glory to glory
[1Corinthians 15:57, 2 Corinthians 3:18],
and the present is the dimension given to us to work that out in.
& make the stuff of our everyday lives an offering of worship to the Lord.
And if we are wholly available for Him to use,
and develop our expectation & sensitivity to the Holy Spirit,
who knows what might happen!
Be happy in the moment, that's enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.
I came across this teaching by Kim Walker-Smith, of Jesus Culture, which deals powerfully
with this question:
One day you will live in the fruit of this moment...
How will the life you are living today, affect the life you live in the future?
