Here's my recipe for 2 rich white loaves:
1 ½ lbs strong white flour
1 sachet yeast
3/4 pint tepid milk & water
½ tsp sugar
1 ½ tsp salt
2 oz margarine/butter
Warm flour in microwave. Mix with dried ingredients.
Mix together finger-hot liquid, melted butter (not too hot) & eggs. Add to flour & mix well.
Leave to prove, covered by a damp tea-towel, in warm place, until doubled in size.
Knead on floured surface for about 10 minutes, until no longer sticky.
Shape into loaves. Put into greased & floured loaf tins.
Cover & put to prove as before.
Brush with milk and cook in centre of oven at 2200 c, Gas 7 for 20 mins. Check, turn round, & cook for another 5- 10 mins, until loaves are golden, & sound hollow in the middle.
