WALK IN STEP WITH THE SEASON
So, in harmony with the season, let’s set aside specific time to slow right down—particularly important before the Christmas rush starts. Let’s make an effort to schedule some trips away from constant background music, overworked domestic appliances, and bustling city streets—and take a walk in His Creation. By allowing the silence to gently cloak us, and by listening to what someone has called the 'divine breathings', we can put ourselves in the way of an encounter with the Lord of Creation.
Many of us are afraid of silence; our world is so full of noise, it can be threatening to be alone with our thoughts. However, research shows us there are immense rewards for our emotional health and well-being from periods of quiet, not to mention the spiritual benefits—so it is really worth breaking through that barrier.
Allow yourself to become really still inside & then turn your heart of affection towards the Lord. Ask Him to come close to you, and He will. Then just rest in His presence, listening.
God is the friend of silence.
See how nature—trees, flowers, grass—grows in silence;
see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence.
We need silence to be able to touch souls.
