Arm yourself with a notebook & pen, find a quiet place, become silent inside & turn your heart towards the Lord. Ask Him to show you which areas of your life are not ‘glistening with hope’, (See Hope Health Check) and which negative beliefs, lies or fears are causing the problem.
As they come into your mind, write them down- without analysis at this point.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you choose one to work on & write it at the top of a clean page. Then, with Him, work through the following questions. It’s important to write out your answers, rather than doing them in your head, as it clarifies deeply held thoughts & feelings, establishes truth, and replaces negative mental images with ones which are positive and faith-filled. An internet search will provide Biblical answers regarding God’s truth in any area.
How does this belief match up with what God says? What is laughable about this belief?
What will happen if I continue with this belief? What effect will it have on me, on my life, on my circumstances?
What is the opposite belief? What does God say that makes this true?
What would it be like if I believed the opposite? How would I feel and act? How would it affect my circumstances?
Read the notebook entries, and write & speak the truth daily until the old thought pattern has given way to the new. Then follow the same procedure with another negative belief.
