THIS SERIES: EASTER THOUGHTS
It is interesting to read in the post-resurrection stories that even His closest disciples didn’t immediately recognise Jesus when He was present. They needed to learn to develop their spiritual senses – as we do, for the material world is no longer our only reality. "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory." [Isaiah 6:3] |
The earth is filled with the glory of God, yet people miss it all the time. They see and appreciate the splendour, but miss the glory. And so miss an encounter with God. Mankind was designed to live in that glory. But we read that our sin caused us to fall short of what should have been our natural habitat [Romans 3:23]. |
However, like using any other sense it takes practice. An experienced sommelier, for example, can pick up the nuances of a fine wine from his sense of smell and taste. He wasn’t born knowing, he was born with the sensory potential, which he then developed through training and experience. In contrast, his neighbour has exactly the same potential, but being untutored responds to special wines with indifference.
So it is with us, so often we can miss encounters with the Lord because we have not learned to recognise the signs of His presence…….
Have you ever been in a Christian meeting, or admiring a beautiful view, when the atmosphere suddenly felt ‘heavy’, (I don’t mean in a negative way)?
I suggest that what you were sensing was the glory of God. And there is one response to glory – take off your shoes!
Turn your heart towards the Lord, & worship Him, He wants you as a participator not spectator.
Most readers seem to prefer to get in touch direct, using the 'Get in Touch!' buttons. However, one or two people have recently indicated they would like the facility to publicly comment under posts, so I have re-opened the public comment option - please feel free to add your thoughts.
The private 'Get in Touch!' option remains the same - please do, I love hearing from people......
